So, you’ve checked in to Camp Cardinal, set up your campsite, and now you’re wondering what’s next.
Luckily, our campground offers a range of activities and amenities, perfectly suited for the whole family.
Check out a sample itinerary for the perfect day:
8 a.m.
Morning Coffee with a View
You’ve woken up to the sound of the morning birds, which only means one thing: it’s time for coffee. Enjoy a cup of joe while looking out over the shores of the Severn River, taking in the beautiful views while surrounded by nature.
9 a.m.
Kayaking on the Severn
Time for some exploring! Rent a kayak (or paddleboard or paddle boat!) and cruise on down the Severn. Do some birdwatching, see if the fish are biting, or just go with the flow and see what you’ll find along the sparkling waters.
11 a.m.
Ice Cream by the Pool
Have some fun with the kiddos at the pool! Go for a swim, ride down our two 70’ water slides or sunbathe in the reclining chairs. Your littlest campers will love playing in our splash park and wading pool! And when it’s time for a break, get a scoop of delicious ice cream or enjoy a milkshake from RiverMutt, our on-site ice cream shop!
1 p.m.
Lunch on the Shore
Time for a bite to eat! Have a picnic at our lunch tables by the shore and look out over the waterways of coastal Virginia, taking in the unique wildlife Camp Cardinal has to offer. Talk about a meal with a view!
2 p.m.
Visiting the Local Attractions
New to Gloucester Point? Explore everything the area has to offer! Check out Gloucester’s Main Street, seek out some thrills at Busch Gardens, learn the history of our nation at Colonial Williamsburg – and so much more!
5 p.m.
Dinner by the Water
We have to refuel after a busy day, so let’s cook up some grub! Roast hot dogs on the fire, throw some steaks on the charcoal grill, or fry up some fish you caught earlier. Nothing better than camping food! Need a wine to pair with that meal? Hop by the Camp Store, which is home to the Virginia Wine Camp Shop, and select a perfect bottle from Virginia.
7 p.m.
Sunset S’mores
The night’s just getting started! Grab some marshmallows and toasting sticks and make the perfect s’mores while taking in the sunset over the water. Don’t forget the graham crackers and chocolate!
9 p.m.
Relaxing Under the Stars
The sun has set, and the stars are out. Identify constellations, play flashlight tag or simply kick up your feet and take in the serenity of Camp Cardinal at night.
